About Ideum

Ideum is a privately held company based in Corrales, New Mexico. (Founded in California in 1999 and based in New Mexico since 2005.) The company has developed and sells an advanced multitouch framework called GestureWorks. It also designs and produces integrated large-scale multitouch tables and multitouch displays for museums, educational institutions, government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies.

In addition to these product offerings, Ideum offers custom software and hardware development and is the principle organization in a number of grants focusing on educational outreach with the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Oceanic and Atmosphere Association (NOAA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Since 1999, we’ve worked on over 70 interactive media projects in the fields of art, culture, history, music, science, and technology that cover a variety of topics. The goal is to create visitor-centric exhibits that seamlessly integrate a balance of compelling design, intuitive user interfaces, and dynamic content. The exhibits we develop adhere to the highest technical and accessibility standards.

While Ideum focuses on delivering technically flawless interactive exhibits and Web applications to our clients, we have a history of experimenting with new and promising educational technologies. In 2009 we  developed our first multitouch table as a platform for multiuser and gesture-based exhibits. In 2009, Ideum released the GestureWorks multitouch authoring framework for Adobe ActionScript. In 2010, we began the Open Exhibits software initiative with funding from the National Science Foundation.

Our custom exhibit and Web work has been honored by the American Association of Museums’ MUSE Awards, the Webby Awards, the Pirelli International Multimedia Awards, the Museums and the Web Conference “Best of the Web,” and other industry awards. You can connect with Ideum on LinkedIn and Facebook.
