Slave Narratives interactive is a Flashforward Finalist
August 24th, 2007 by Jim Spadaccini
The Slave Narratives online exhibit which we developed with the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) is a finalist in the Flashforward Film Festival (see the “Experience” category). The winners will be announced at Flashforward 2007, a three-day conference “led by the world’s leading Flash designers and developers.” You can vote for Slave Narratives for the “People’s Choice” award on their site. There’s more about the Slave Narratives exhibit in the Ideum portfolio.

Impressive, flawless execution and I loved the attention to accessibility: the transcripts, the html version.
But! I was surprised to find that in the html version of the exhibit the drop-down menu is as good as dead with javascript off: so no javascript, no narratives? Ok, ok, I’m nitpicking, but it was so-almost-perfect and that little glitch just turned on my curiosity
Anyway, your work is inspiring, I’ll sure keep on watching what you’re up to…

PS: subscription to your mailing list here:

doesn’t work with javascript off either - it presents me with a enigmatic “subscribe button” but no form (I’ve turned js on and subscribed anyway, but that shouldn’t refrain you to fix it ;))

Enrico,
Thanks for your kind comments about the Slave Narratives Interactive, it was a great project to be part of. The Javascript issue on the About page is fixed.
Best.
