Ideum Multitouch Table at Ontario Science Centre

There is a video on YouTube of our MT2 multitouch table in action at the Ontario Science Centre. The video shows our multitouch mash-up that uses Yahoo! Maps and Flickr photos. (The video also includes various applications from  NUI’s Snowflake software suite which comes bundled with each table.)

We worked with Ontario Science Centre to customize the mapping program and they have opened it up to the Flickr community.  Visitors can join their group, Innovation in Toronto, and upload geo-tagged photos to be included in the exhibit on the museum floor. This is the first time our mashup has been used in this way.

Update July 27, 2009: Ontario Science Centre just posted a video on YouTube that shows the Multi-touch Mapping Mashup in detail.

GestureWorks – Flash Multitouch SDK is now available!

gesturworks flash multi-touch SDK framework

Today we released a trial version of the first Adobe Flash Multitouch SDK complete with drivers for the HP TouchSmart and Dell Studio One. You can download the free alpha trial version on the GestureWorks site.

The Gestureworks development environment provides a simplified and standardized approach to multitouch application development. Of course, this Flash framework can be used with our multitouch table along with Natural User Interface’s Snowflake Software and other devices and software that support the TUIO protocol.  You can learn more about GestureWorks by reading our press release.

This Fall we will release the full version of GestureWorks. To keep up to date with the latest developments concerning GestureWorks, follow us on Twitter or join our mailing list on the GestureWorks site.

Update September 9, 2009: We’ve announced pricing and date release information for Gestureworks.

National Association for Museum Exhibition – Back Issues and Archives

name-exhibitNAME (The National Association for Museum Exhibition) has re-published a number of exhibit design articles from the Exhibitionist magazine. These free, PDF versions of the magazine can be found on the NAME site in the Back Issues and Online Archive section.

While there isn’t a complete collection of back issues, there are number of excellent articles. While you’re on the NAME site you might want to consider becoming a member.

The release of these back issues is the culmination of major Web redesign effort that Ideum took part in earlier this year.  We designed and built the Website and set up a content management system (CMS) that allows NAME members to update and maintain it.
