The Living with a Star CD-ROM accompanies a book of the same title developed by the Lawrence Hall of Science GEMS (Great Explorations in Math and Science) program. The "stand-alone" CD packaging was developed to help distribute additional copies of the CD-ROM to interested educators.

The CD-ROM packaging is made up of eight panels which provide a brief introduction to the the topic along with simple instructions for viewing the CD. In addition to the layout, Ideum created custom scientific illustrations of the Earth and the Sun.
