Near real-time images from a variety of NASA satellites and ground-based observatories are presented. Users can zoom and pan the images. A scale tool with the size of the Earth is presented for the solar images.

The Sun-Earth Media Viewer is a Flash-based interactive tool kit built to support the major public outreach initiatives of NASA's Sun-Earth Connection Education Forum.

The viewer allows users to view real-time NASA satellite images of the Sun and the Earth. A thumbnail viewer allows visitors to explore and compare a variety of solar and terrestrial data from a variety of NASA missions and ground-based observatories.

In May of 2004, the site was honored with a 15,000 Euro Pirelli International Award for best Environmental Multimedia Project. This was the second year in a row Ideum won an award in this category. The Global Climate Change site was honored in 2003. The Sun-Earth Viewer was also a Macromedia Site of Day in 2004.
