While stories of supply issues caused by the pandemic continue to dominate the business headlines, Ideum has arranged to airlift 3M touch sensors directly from Asia, which means we can offer touch tables and displays using them to clients and collaborators sooner than anyone else. We currently have 43”, 49”, and 65” touch sensors in stock, with 55” sensors due to arrive by late October. These industry-leading sensors are in many of our tables and displays, and they are fully compatible with our Tangible Engine object recognition software and support 80 touch points. Last year, 3M sold its portfolio to TES, which now is producing these exceptional touch sensors, and we are thrilled to be the only company in the US that currently has these large-format sensors in stock.

In addition, we also have our outstanding larger-sized Zytronic touch sensors available for our 86” Colossus and our Dual-49” Pano touch tables. While we do have all of these parts in stock, we are working to make our lead times shorter to help with the steady demand that we’ve seen so far this year.

Ideum also continues to provide offerings from Displax and we will have a few new products using their technology that we will announce later this winter. All of these sensor manufacturers provide the best quality touch sensors for large displays and all offer projected capacitive touch (PCAP) capability, which is the same technology found in smartphones and tablets. PCAP sensors are extremely responsive, bezel-less, and impervious to light interference. If you would like to learn more about projected capacitive technology, 3M has a PDF guide.
