Travelers Explore New Mexico Film Productions at Albuquerque Sunport

LOCATION

Albuquerque, New Mexico

Travelers to the Albuquerque International Sunport this week were greeted with an exciting new addition to the terminal: a brand-new interactive kiosk that lets visitors explore the scenic vistas of New Mexico and learn about the many movie and television productions that have captured those sights on film.

Ideum designed custom software for the kiosk that invites travelers to explore information about productions across the state, see behind-the-scenes photography, and even watch trailers on the big screen. Ideum collaborated with the Sunport, the City of Albuquerque, and the New Mexico Film Office to bring it all to life.

Visitors can also explore by location, jumping to a city or scenic locale and browsing information about the productions that were brought to life there. A custom-engraved map of the state atop an embedded LED panel in the kiosk illuminates specific filming locations.

In addition to the custom software, Ideum also designed and fabricated the striking white kiosk itself. The kiosk is constructed of Staron solid surface material with inlaid wood accents. Our choice of materials takes into mind the concern over COVID-19, and Staron provided us with an opportunity to use a material that is non-porous and doesn’t allow germs to penetrate the surface. This unique stone-like material is resistant to chemical cleansers, sanitizers and disinfectants, and enables the Sunport to protect travelers with rigorous cleaning practices while still feeling natural to the touch.

The kiosk houses an immersive 75” display showcasing locations and a 43” Ideum Inline Touch Display that allows visitors to control the experience. LED lights pulse and flow organically to paint the surrounding wall and catch travelers’ eyes. Additional accents include topographic elements that evoke our state’s diverse rolling geography. Ideum’s industrial design team designed the cabinetry, and the exhibit itself was built in our custom fabrication studio.

Supported by a custom-built, robust content management system, this experience will continue to be updated regularly as New Mexico continues to serve as the backdrop for many more productions to come. The kiosk is located just beyond the airport security checkpoint.

We were thrilled to have the opportunity to work with our local city and state agencies to raise awareness for the creative work being done in the New Mexico film industry. See you in the movies!
